My husky had his second seizure today.  He’s almost 6.  first one was 8 weeks ago.  do you think overheating could cause the seizure?  both times he had run a lot and then napped.  had seizure dueing the nap.  we took him off Purina One…he’s been off that for about three weeks.  vet has him on Prescription Diet d/d.

Hey Cobaltc, seizures can be caused by heat, but they can also be caused by others things. Zinc deficiency in huskies is a big cause of seizures. Does he have any other symptoms? Any skin issues?

We took him off Purina One and put him on Fromm Grain Free.  Hasn’t had a seizure since.  Also giving him half dosage Vectra 3D, and other half three days later.   He’s much more active and playful and no seizures.

Thats good news. Grains, especially wheat actually inhibit the absorption of zinc and as I say, zinc deficiency is a big cause for seizures in huskies. Keep an eye on him and if he has any further seizures, it might be worth trying to add 50mg of zinc picolinate.
